Mark 10

Things we know for sure about Jesus from Mark 10:

Jesus went across the Jordan into Judea
Jesus taught the people that came to him
Jesus was tested by the Pharisees about divorce
Jesus asked about Moses’ law on the matter of divorce
Jesus told them that divorce was permitted only because their hearts were hardened
Jesus said that anyone who divorce his or her spouse and remarries is guilty of adultery
Jesus had people bring their children to him so that he would bless them
Jesus rebuked the disciples when they rebuked the parents bringing the children to him
Jesus told the disciples to let the children come to him and that anyone who prevented this would never enter God’s kingdom
Jesus welcomed children and blessed them
Jesus was called a good teacher by a young man
Jesus asked him about this and then said that no one was good by God
Jesus answered the question about inheriting eternal life by telling him to keep the commandments
Jesus told the man to sell all that he had and give the money to the poor and only then could he inherit eternal life
Jesus said that it is hard for a wealthy man to inherit eternal life, so hard that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle that for a rich man to enter heaven
Jesus said that while salvation is impossible for man, all things are possible with God
Jesus is a truth-teller, whoever leaves things behind for Jesus and the gospel will receive 100x as much of those in this life- along with persecutions- and eternal life in the age to come
Jesus said that many who are first will be last and many who are last will be first
Jesus led the way to Jerusalem and told his disciples he’d soon be killed but would rise three days later
Jesus was accosted by James and John to do whatever they wanted
Jesus asked them what they wanted him to do
Jesus told them that they didn’t know what they were asking and wanted to know if they’d suffer with him, then told them that they would suffer
Jesus called his disciples together and told them that it was the humble ones who were the real leaders
Jesus came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many
Jesus arrived in Jericho and as they were leaving, he was shouted at by Bartimaeus, a blind man
Jesus also asked him what he wanted Jesus to do
Jesus healed him
