The Run Streak

Born: November 23, 2011

Died: June 18, 2012

209 days.

782.25 miles.

108 hours, 40 minutes and 10 seconds.

The run streak began in Heathsville Virginia on November 23, 2011 with a 2.20 mile run as a warm-up to the next day’s Irvington Turkey Trot 8k in Irvington Virginia.  Beginning in Virginia, the streak went to Iowa, South Dakota, Kentucky and continued in Illinois.  The longest run on the streak was on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 7.62 miles.  The fastest run was that day in Irvington Virginia, 5 miles at a 7:10 pace.  The streak ended yesterday, June 18, 2012 after a 4.07 mile run.  Months of on-going hip pain and a right knee tweak contributed to its demise.

The streak is survived by two pairs of ASICS GT-2160’s and a pair of Vibram Five-Fingers.

The Cost.  The Joy.
