Planting an oak tree

I once heard the following adage:

There are two good times to plant an oak tree, 20 years ago, and today.

But, we’d rather ask the following questions:

Who will dig the hole?
Where will we buy the seed?
Do we have a shovel?
Who has the spiritual gift of shoveling?
Do we have a sign up sheet?
Who will water the new tree?
What committee is in charge?
Have we received approval?
Have we thought this through?
What if we don’t own the land in 20 years?
Who will prune it?
What about leaves…who will rake them up?

  1. Great post. Concise. Poetic.
