On connecting

This past weekend, I had the joy of attending Turning Point in Omaha.  Turning Point is an event for high school students that takes place every November.  The theme for this years was “Pause”; we discussed the lost art of the Sabbath.  Our students had the opportunity to practice one of three spiritual disciplines: “Solitude”, “Meditation” and “Journaling”.  We’ll be re-visiting each of these in an extended format in January.

Friday night’s session was a interview format with three students and a leader from NCC.  When they were initially talking about Sabbath, one of them made this amazing statement:

“We don’t know how to connect with something, because we are so connected with everything else.”

Over the weekend, I saw this commercial a few times, it effectively communicates what he meant.

And what is presented as the solution to our inability to connect?  Yet another device.  Brilliant.

I’m not done with this video.
