In 2 Corinthians 11, gives this big list about how much his life, and ministry, sucks. He speaks of the life of an itinerant preacher, the pain and suffering that someone like Francis Asbury or George Whitefield could relate to. And, to this list of physical pain, he adds the following:
“Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches.”
I have never been put into prison for my faith. Never been hit with rods. No floggings or lashings. Never shipwrecked or set adrift. While I have gone without sleep, ministry has not left me without food or drink.
But the burden of the church? Yes. I live there.
