Thirsty Soul

Psalm 42:2- “My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

The author of this Psalm knows what he really needs. He knows that true thirst, spiritual thirst can only be quenched by God. If he drinks from anything else, attempts to fill that hole any other way, he’ll still be wanting.

He knows where to go and what will happen when he arrives there. His “when?” is filled with anticipation. He cannot wait to go and meet the one who will quench him.

I think of the kid longing for ice cream. It has been promised to her…and all she can think of is…when?

God…can I come see you?
